Each year the Hosta Hideaway Nursery and Gardens of York Springs, Pennsylvania has visitors from all over the eastern United States. For example, in 2023 alone we had customers from over 20 different states. Additionally, we often get asked where to eat, what to do, or even where to stay when in the area. Even those who are traveling from less than 3 hours away or those coming as part of a small group ask us for recommendations of where to eat. Gettysburg National Military Park: 20 minutes from THH. The park includes over 6,000 acres of land, 1,300 monuments, 400 cannons, and 31 miles of roads to traverse. Adams County, PA, Orchards: The Hosta Hideaway is located in Pennsylvania’s Fruit Belt, so taking a scenic drive through the over 20,000 acres of orchards and stopping for some fresh produce is always a treat. Below are a few suggestions.

Frederick, MD: If traveling to The Hosta Hideaway from points south, Frederick, MD might be a good choice to stop for a place to eat or to explore if you have some extra time. You can find many restaurants in the town’s downtown historic district which is also a nice place where to walk and explore.

Washington D.C.: 2 hours from THH. Where to stay:

Hickory Bridge Farms: Several of our customers have stayed at Hickory Bridge Farms where they have farmhouse or cottage accommodations, and a locally famous restaurant that serves family-style dinners. Additionally, THH is located 25 minutes north of Gettysburg and 20 minutes south of Carlise and Mechanicsburg where there are a large number of hotel and restaurant chains.
